Flight of fancy

Right now, I'd much rather be in a hammock outside a cheap hired apartment overlooking Niederried's lake Brienz, reading an Agatha Christie, sipping on an Apple Martini and Tangled Up In Blue wafting out at me.

Where would you much rather be?

P.S. Only people like M who have zero imagination are allowed to say that they are exactly where they would like to be. I mean, gah. (Incidentally, I wrote this out before I actually asked him and well, he said exactly that. To his credit, he is watching Zabardast Hits on Channel V and sipping on White Zinfandel, who can blame him?)

P.P.S. Cheap? Well, relatively. And Bob Dylan? Goodness, how the rock has softened.

Haan, you were saying?

I wish I were sitting on the patio of an Amazonian lodge with a good thought-provoking book in the wee morning hours with all the pleasant sounds and smells around me.
Ah!! to have that tranquility for even a day!

I dont know how you do it... make us think and better still, make us write (delurk, that is :))

I wish I were in India, in Bangalore, sipping coffee early in the morning and reading Deccan Herald, smug with the knowledge that I am going to have Masala Dosa for breakfast.

Sigh!

On the front terrace of a white villa in Greece, the sun shining on the Mediterranean, something cold in my hand, the Velvet Underground playing softly from Bose (or UBL perhaps) speakers, perhaps a person I love very much beside me or maybe I'm just alone.

I am getting a back massage on the white sand beaches of Grand Caymon in Caribbean Sea ... with the winds blowing through my hair ... occasionally looking over my shoulder to see BP and kids are still enjoying in the water ...
WHAT ... You asked me to stop dreaming ... :(

In Bangalore, in my cozy flat left spic and span by the maid. Watching a movie with hubby with a book as good as 'Suitable Boy' in hand. Secure in the knowledge that the cook returns in the morning before I get out of bed!

In Barbados, in a hammock, in a coconut plantation, with tender coconut and reading a good novel. No one in the 5mile radius...or maybe, people working in the background.

Sitting somewhere in Switzerland, with a view of the snow-capped mountains, reading Agatha Christie(same pinch) and having chocolate fondue..Ah pure bliss! :)

LOL I'm mahesh's partner in crime! I thought the same too! Dang, no wonder an ad school teacher told me that I need to think outside the box. :p

at the risk of "over simplifying" my punchline let me add that i meant the bp fantasy as in same "locked in overnight" scenario.

I want to go to a beach and walk alone. Let the waters touch my feet. But I hope it is not summer now. :-)

Somewhere in a shack in Goa, tanned and at peace, reading something like Malgudi Days (I know, it's more suited for a hammock under a palm tree in Kerala, but shhh!!) with an endless supply of beer or breezers.

In South Goa, at noon. Not playing the beach bum, just playing a happy homemaker gossiping on my porch with the neighbour ladies, while waiting for the husbands to come home. Any other place thousands of kms away from my office will do, too.

Corporate life sucks. big time. and yet we trudge on.

I never knew it would be difficult to answer this.. Not b'coz of lack of options but b'coz of too many options. Every time I think of something nice, my flight of fancy is getting hijacked to a nicer place.. :D Maybe I should do a post on this...

Right now I'm thinking of a small cottage somewhere in the mountains with my entire collection of Wodehouse.... Ah bliss!!

Dylan served with any form of alcy right here would be nice. Imagination is over-rated. Zabardast hits too.

on a holiday. in a resort with swimming pool. it doesn't matter what the location is. I just want to be doing nothing except lazing, reading a stack of agatha christies and drinking beer.

Since Brienz is only a couple of hours away, let me pull up a chair next to you and sip a tall glass of Ice tea. And we both can wonder if our husbands would live happily ever after! (with or without each other, I dont mind either way! ;)

I wish I was on campus right now. With Jokerman playing on loop and the familiar smell of weed and hearing familiar voices.
But I am at home, alone and with no life.

I much rather be on the virgin beach of Alibaug, lying on a hammock, looking into the sea, listening to soulful voice of Mohit Chuhan, sipping a mojito.
